I look so forward to snowstorms! It’s my kid like heart. It brings me back to free snow day’s and their endless stretch where my dad would shovel and I would play making snow angels, snow cones, snow prints with my moon boots, tunnels, igloos, snowmen with extravagant outfits and cutting out snow flakes out of construction paper. All of this and more comes rushing back to me when I begin to hear the weather forecast. I become obsessed with the idea of 8 inches or more of snow . Blizzard is one of my very favorite words… along with ice, freezing rain or bomb cyclones. I begin to watch the weather almost hourly trying to will the storm into existence. My hope is like a child on Christmas Day. So when that much energy is put into hoping and praying for snow, it is devastating when the forecast changes overnight from snow to just rain! I feel like that child who did not get that Special toy on Christmas Day or finds out about Santa’s veil… It’s like all my kid like wishing ,hoping, and magic gets washed away along with the puddles that appear instead of piles of white. The puddles turn to little pools that slowly slip away down the street drains along with the magic until the next Snow forecast.
